About Me

Hi, my name is Cory Rusch, I am the person behind Fortress Fine Woodworks. I consider myself a creator and I’ve been that way since a young boy. I have an expanding inspiration to design and build the most beautiful woodworking I can. Wood is my medium and a career is simply a wonderful byproduct.

When I was as young as 5 years old, I had a persistent desire to create the things I didn’t have. And believe me, I wanted everything. This played an important role in how I was able to achieve goals. If I was given tools rather than stuff, I could manifest the things I most desired. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was creating my future with popsicle sticks and hot glue.

As a young adult I started working with my uncle doing remodels and additions to homes. This taught me crucial skills with measuring, marking, and cutting. I enjoyed this business and began working with my father Gary and his remodeling business, HD Rusch Construction. I am very grateful for the opportunities my father and clients have given me to become a better builder and woodworker.

As a hobbyist woodworker I began building stringed instruments. Starting with 3 electric and 3 acoustic guitars, I eventually moved to harder instruments like a violin. This has provided invaluable practice in flawless wood finishes and high-end woodworking as an art form. As I built my custom shop, I again didn’t realize I was building my future. Today, I have also learned to model projects in a computer program to help aid the complexity of my builds as they progress. This provides renderings for the paying clients that want to see the final product before it starts.

With these skills and experiences at hand, I continue to challenge the way I build and find new ways to make the impossible more attainable. I hope for more clients that are as inspired as I am and value the time and workmanship that goes in to every inch of every project.
